Skimmer Found at South Louisiana Dollar Tree

The Eunice Police Department has issued a warning to the public after a skimming device was discovered at the Dollar Tree in Eunice. On Saturday, June 15), just after 7 PM, store employees notified the police that a credit card skimmer was found at Register 3. The employees were uncertain how long the device had been there.

The Eunice Police Department is actively investigating the incident and plans to review security camera footage from the store as soon as it becomes available. Discovery of the skimmer raises concerns about potential unauthorized transactions, prompting authorities to advise recent customers to thoroughly look over their debit and credit card statements for any suspicious activity.

The Eunice Police Department said in a statement: “If you have visited Dollar Tree recently and used a debit or credit card, please review your statements carefully for suspicious transactions that were not authorized by you. It is possible that these devices have been placed in other stores without detection from store employees. Please be aware.”

The police department also noted that similar devices could have been installed in other stores without the staff’s knowledge. This isn’t the first time skimmers have popped up in Eunice; late last year, a skimmer was discovered at a local Walmart store in the area.

Customers are encouraged to be on alert and report any unauthorized transactions to their bank or credit card company immediately.

As the investigation into the skimming device at the Eunice Dollar Tree continues, authorities are working to identify the individual or individuals responsible for placing the device and to determine if other stores in the area have been affected.

Anyone with information related to this incident is encouraged to contact the Eunice Police Department.
