Scrap High-Value Currency Notes: Naidu

Kadapa: Telugu Desam supremo and AP Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has sought demonetisation of all high-denomination currency notes to check corruption and introduction of digital currency.

The highest value currency note is of Rs 500 denomination, while the Rs 2,000 notes, introduced during the demonetisation in 2016, are being withdrawn from circulation.

Naidu said the removal of high-value currency notes, including Rs 500 notes, could lead to a significant decrease in corruption. He was addressing the Telugu Desam’s three-day Mahanadu that got off to a grand start in the YSR Congress bastion of Kadapa on Tuesday.

“I have submitted a report to the Prime Minister advocating the introduction of digital currency, explaining how it can help trace illegal transactions. True public service requires clean governance. Banning high-denomination notes is one way to eliminate corruption. Donations to the party can be made directly through phone-based bank transfers,” Naidu said.

On other issues, he said that the alliance government in AP would provide free bus service for women

starting August 15,. He also reiterated his commitment to ensuring safety for all.

Naidu said the TD has always set new trends in governance, welfare, development and reforms. “Our commitment is state-first, and our path is one of positive politics. TD is the only regional party to have achieved a record of enrolling 1 crore members in just 45 days. Whether in power or opposition, Mahanadu always echoes with the same enthusiasm.”

“The energy of our workers fills my heart with joy. I welcome all members of the Telugu Desam family, whom I consider as dear as life itself. We’ve held 34 Mahanadus so far, and this one will be marked in golden letters.”

Naidu said, “I consider myself a student for life, constantly learning and working for people’s betterment. We fought corruption in opposition and are now delivering clean governance. TD added value to Indian politics through positive politics. Today, even leaders in other parties across Telugu states are alumni of the TD school.”

“Now, in this age of technology, we must bring innovation to our party’s agenda. This Mahanadu in Kadapa will host key deliberations and design the future for the coming generations,” Naidu averred.

Saying that AP is becoming the new benchmark for development, he said, “We’ll complete Polavaram, connect rivers and irrigate every acre. We’ll usher in green energy and green hydrogen. We aim to reduce global logistics costs through better roads, railways, ports and airports. I’ll lead the Telugu people forward through Quantum Valley and AI. Under the Prime Minister’s leadership, we are shaping Viksit Bharat. And with Swarna Andhra 2047, we have set the goals of a $2.4 trillion economy for the state and a Rs 55 lakh income per household.”

Naidu said mandal party presidents, parliamentary leaders, cluster in-charges, ministers, MLAs and MPs must evolve into strong leaders. “We believe in political governance through collective participation. Every worker must become a partner in this government. The bridge between government and party must be strengthened. Mahanadu must serve as that platform.”

The TD chief said, “We’ve launched an array of programmes, roads, infrastructure, businesses, investments, employment, and job notifications. From August 15, free RTC bus travel for women will begin and the Thalliki Vandhanam before the schools reopen. We are making Rayalaseema a horticulture hub and promoting aquaculture across the state.”

“When chilli farmers faced difficulties, we intervened and took help from the Centre. We supported cocoa and mango farmers in Rayalaseema and helped tobacco growers as well,” the Chief Minister asserted.
