Ardmore streets to receive $8 million dollar upgrades

ARDMORE, Okla. (KXII) – City engineer Josh Randell says they’re updating Ardmore’s infrastructure beginning with several street projects around town.

“Its important that we make these improvements, we have things in the city that have been around for almost 100 years that need to be improved and need to be brought back to modern standards in todays world that we can all utilize,” Randell said.

Randell says some projects have already begun, like improving drainage on 8th Ave. NW and expanding lanes on 12th Ave.

“There’s boots on the ground, they’re now ripping it up and putting in a new storm sewer as we speak. 12th avenue has two phases that are currently going into construction,” Randell stated.

He says there’s even more projects on the way, on Sunset Drive and expanding Rockford Road.

“Primarily a new drainage project in the area, but its coming with all new paving and storm sewer apparatus,” Randell stated.

He says the improvements will also make the roads more efficient and safer for everyone.

“For instance on Rockford, Rockford being between Broadway and 4th its only two lanes, well if we double the capacity, the roadway is going to function so much better,” Randell stated.

Randell says the project will bring nearly $8 Million dollars in improvements to Ardmore.

“This roadway project happens to incorporate one of the 17 main challenge areas for drainage in the city, so we’re actually hoping to kill two birds with one stone with this particular project,” Randell added.
