Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors propelled shares lower.

The biggest gainers of the session on the were Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:), which rose 3.82% or 11.40 points to trade at 310.20 at the close. Barclays PLC (LON:) added 3.21% or 4.68 points to end at 150.72 and J Sainsbury PLC (LON:) was up 2.99% or 8.00 points to 275.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Endeavour Mining PLC (LON:), which lost 4.10% or 58.00 points to trade at 1,357.00 in late trade. Fresnillo PLC (LON:) declined 3.14% or 16.40 points to end at 505.60 and Mondi PLC (LON:) shed 2.39% or 33.50 points to 1,367.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 881 to 861 and 710 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.83% or 17.25 to $2,053.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 2.26% or 1.67 to hit $72.15 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 1.93% or 1.52 to trade at $77.18 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.93% to 1.26, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.17% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.94% at 103.83.
