What Is the In-Game Currency in ARC Raiders? How to Acquire & Use Them Explained

ARC Raiders‘ economy centers on a premium currency called Raider Tokens – a store-bought unit you spend on a variety of items. This currency is different from the game’s play-earned money, commonly known as Raider Coins or Cred. While the Raider Tokens do not affect your gameplay directly, they’re still an integral part of the system as they are essential for premium rewards.

Here’s a comprehensive guide to Raider Tokens in ARC Raiders, explaining how to earn and utilize this currency efficiently.

The simplest and guaranteed way to acquire the Raider Tokens is by purchasing them from the digital storefront of your platform (Steam, Epic, console’s digital store). The game hasn’t been released yet, but once it does, you will find packs of Raider Tokens being sold on the online stores for real money. Apart from that, you will also be able to get the Raider Tokens from the in-game store for real money.

Currently, there’s no way to earn the Raider Tokens as a normal currency while playing the game. However, the developers might just introduce a way to earn it in the later phases of the game. One more thing, players who own the Deluxe Edition of ARC Raiders start their playthrough with 2400 Raider Tokens. So that’s the kind of head start you can get if you spend a little extra on this game.

The separation of economy matters! ARC Raiders maintain a two-tier economy – a soft, gameplay currency you can earn by completing quests (for gear, consumables, etc), and a hard, premium currency (Raider Tokens) sold for real money and used for optional cosmetics and premium progression.

Once you spend your money to credit some Raider Tokens in your in-game wallet, you can spend them on battle passes to unlock premium reward tracks. Moreover, Raider Tokens can only be used to purchase cosmetic bundles, Raider Decks, emotes, backpacks, outfits, etc, from the in-game store.

You see, items purchased from Raider Tokens are not that necessary for your main-story progression. They are just there for players who fancy acquiring unlockables for their collection.

How Raider Tokens Stack Up Against Other Live-Service Games

On paper, the Raider Tokens work similarly to Apex Coins, the premium currency from Apex Legends. Both of these premium currencies are simply used to purchase cosmetics and unlock premium battle pass reward tracks. That said, they promote nothing but some non-pay-to-win content, which does not give any gameplay advantage.

The most recent Battlefield 6 has a premium currency called the Battlefield Coins. While you can earn them for free from the battle pass, the game also allows you to earn Battlefield Coins through real money. In comparison with the Raider Tokens, the Battlefield Coins are flexible. All because BF6 refunds their players the premium currency through the battle pass, which ARC Raiders should do, too.

In terms of usage, the Battlefield Coins are used to purchase cosmetics, just like the Raider Tokens. They have no use in your weapon or armor progression, giving you no extra advantage over free-to-play players. That said, the premium currency in Battlefield 6 remains non-pay-to-win like ARC Raiders.

It would be a shame not to talk about Fortnite’s V-Bucks when it comes to premium currencies. Throughout the years, Epic Games has gone soft with its monetization, giving players its premium currency through battle pass progression. Fortnite also put V-Bucks on sale through promotional bundles, so their prices frequently change.

However, if you sincerely commit to Fortnite‘s battle pass, you can earn a decent amount of V-Bucks without paying a single penny. This is something we believe can never happen in ARC Raiders, making this game a little more strict in terms of monetization.

Long story short, the Raider Tokens are for players who can afford to indulge in a premium progression category. Its separation from the main gameplay makes it consumer-friendly. More specifically, the Raider Tokens are for the players who want a distinct line between what money buys and what gameplay earns. Hence, if you specifically need cosmetic benefits, Raider Tokens can do the job in ARC Raiders.
