Ross’s company says multi-billion-dollar investment will keep US competitive in the global AI race
WASHTENAW COUNTY, Mich. – University of Michigan alumnus and billionaire developer Stephen Ross is teaming up with OpenAI and Oracle to build a massive new data center just outside of Ann Arbor.
If the state approves the plan, the project would include a 250-acre campus in Saline Township, with construction getting underway in 2026.
Ross’s company says the multi-billion-dollar investment will keep the United States competitive in the global AI race.
On Thursday (Oct. 30), Governor Gretchen Whitmer applauded the project, saying: “Today, we won the largest economic project in Michigan history.”
