Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the gained 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the were Howden Joinery Group Plc (LON:), which rose 7.04% or 54.40 points to trade at 827.00 at the close. HALEON PLC (LON:) added 5.57% or 17.50 points to end at 331.45 and Ocado Group PLC (LON:) was up 4.22% or 20.70 points to 511.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Whitbread PLC (LON:), which lost 4.57% or 158.00 points to trade at 3,303.00 in late trade. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:) declined 3.63% or 5.55 points to end at 147.25 and Barclays PLC (LON:) shed 2.63% or 4.44 points to 164.46.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 894 to 868 and 701 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.53% or 10.85 to $2,053.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.88% or 0.69 to hit $79.23 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.74% or 0.61 to trade at $82.76 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.25% to 1.26, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.04% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 104.04.
