ImpactAssets CEO Margret Trilli Named Influential Woman in Institutional Investing

Margret Trilli, CEO and chief investment officer of ImpactAssets and ImpactAssets Capital Partners, has been named one of Pensions & Investments’ 2026 Influential Women in Institutional Investing, recognizing her leadership in expanding institutional participation in impact investing.

The annual program honors women whose work has influenced the professional investment and retirement markets. Honorees are evaluated on their industry experience, measurable results and influence within their organizations and the broader institutional investment sector.

Trilli has more than 25 years of investment experience and has led ImpactAssets through a period of significant growth. She joined the organization as president and CIO in 2018 and became CEO in 2020.

Under her leadership, ImpactAssets and ImpactAssets Capital Partners have grown to more than $5 billion in assets. The organization manages more than 1,700 active investments across private funds and companies and oversees more than 24 institutional investment mandates spanning public and private markets.

ImpactAssets also consistently ranks among the top 10 firms in PitchBook’s private markets league tables. In 2025, the organization completed more than 400 private market transactions and deployed more than $650 million.

The scale of that activity reflects the broader institutionalization of impact investing, which seeks to combine financial performance with measurable social or environmental outcomes. ImpactAssets works with institutional and private clients across major asset classes, including foundations, corporations, family offices, individuals and wealth managers.

“Women are helping shape where institutional investing goes next by challenging long-held assumptions about where opportunity comes from, who gets to lead, and what impact investing can accomplish,” Trilli said.

She added that as impact investing expands, the industry faces increasing expectations around how strategies are structured, measured and scaled, as well as an opportunity to develop the next generation of women in investment leadership.

Trilli has also built a public profile around institutional and impact investing. She has been featured by Forbes, the Financial Times and Barron’s and has spoken at events including New York Climate Week, the Milken Global Conference, PEI and the Stanford Philanthropy Summit.

Her industry and nonprofit work extends beyond ImpactAssets. Trilli serves on the boards of the Natural Resources Defense Council, WaterEquity and Water.org. She also sits on the Review Committee for the ImpactAssets 50, a database of private debt and equity impact investment fund managers, and helped expand the initiative to include Emerging and Emeritus Manager categories.

Now in its fourth year, the Pensions & Investments Influential Women in Institutional Investing program is designed to recognize women producing measurable results while driving change across investment organizations and the wider industry.

The 2026 honorees are scheduled to be recognized during an awards ceremony and half-day conference in Chicago on September 15.
