
Mutual fund SIP inflows reached a record ₹32,297 crore in August, while active SIP accounts rose to 10.62 crore amid turbulent equity markets and geopolitical tensions.

Inflows in mutual funds through systematic investment plans hit another record high of ₹32,297 crore in August, up from ₹31,861 crore in July, even as equity markets remained turbulent amid geopolitical tensions pushing up crude oil prices.
The contributing SIP account also hit an all-time high of ₹10.2 crore (9.9 crore). New accounts opened jumped to 66.39 lakh (61.44 lakh), while accounts closed were 53.82 lakh (50.30 lakh), bringing total active accounts to 10.62 crore, according to Association of Mutual Funds in India data released on Thursday.
Equity inflows rise 19 per cent
Venkat Chalasani, Chief Executive, AMFI, said despite geopolitical issues and rising crude prices, investors believed in India’s growth story, and RBI’s ability to mop up $127 billion has been a great achievement given past experience.
Equity inflows rose 19 per cent to ₹29,329 crore last month, up from ₹24,697 crore in July. However, outflows from large-cap funds were down marginally to ₹1,147 crore (₹1,322 crore).
Mid-cap funds received the higher inflow of ₹6,989 crore (₹6,192 crore). Tax saver funds and Dividend yield funds registered a net outflow of ₹1,079 crore (-₹134 crore) and ₹134 crore (-₹169 crore).
Mutual fund assets rise
Overall assets under management in the industry increased to ₹87.07 lakh crore (₹85.76 lakh crore), largely due to mark-to-market gains.
