The biggest gainers of the session on the were Fresnillo PLC (LON:), which rose 7.58% or 35.60 points to trade at 505.50 at the close. Anglo American PLC (LON:) added 4.60% or 89.70 points to end at 2,041.50 and Shell PLC (LON:) was up 3.51% or 92.00 points to 2,717.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:), which lost 5.25% or 237.00 points to trade at 4,275.00 in late trade. Entain PLC (LON:) declined 4.99% or 39.80 points to end at 757.60 and Ocado Group PLC (LON:) shed 4.22% or 19.20 points to 435.90.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1082 to 771 and 581 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.01% or 22.75 to $2,279.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.49% or 1.25 to hit $84.96 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.46% or 1.28 to trade at $88.70 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.21% to 1.26, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 104.50.
