House Republican drafts proposal to add a $250 bill to US currency. Look whose face he wants printed on it.

President Donald Trump may have pulled the plug on the penny, but one Republican lawmaker is proposing a new denomination that will honor the nation’s 45th and 47th president.

Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) revealed that he has drafted legislation to create a $250 bill that will feature Trump’s face, calling for the proposed highest denomination to honor the “most valuable President.”

“Grateful to announce that I am drafting legislation to direct the Bureau of Engraving and Printing to design a $250 bill featuring Donald J. Trump,” Wilson wrote in a post on X.

“Bidenflation has destroyed the economy forcing American families to carry more cash,” the South Carolina Republican added. “Most valuable bill for most valuable President!”

An 1866 Act of Congress made it a law that only the portrait of a dead person can appear on U.S. currency.

The $100,000 Gold Certificate, Series 1934, was the largest note ever printed by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, but it was never circulated to the public.

“United States currency denominations above $100 are not available from the Department of the Treasury, the Federal Reserve System, or the Bureau of Engraving and Printing,” the Bureau notes on its website.

“On July 14, 1969, the Department of the Treasury and the Federal Reserve System announced that currency notes in denominations of $500, $1,000, $5,000, and $10,000 would be discontinued immediately due to lack of use. Although they were issued until 1969, they were last printed in 1945,” the page explains.

In other tributes, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) has called for a Trump carving to be added to Mount Rushmore, and Rep. Claudia Tenney of New York proposed making Trump’s birthday a public holiday to coincide with Flag Day.

“President Trump’s bold leadership and steadfast dedication to America’s greatness have cemented his place in history. Mount Rushmore, a timeless symbol of our nation’s freedom and strength, deserves to reflect his towering legacy—a legacy further solidified by the powerful start to his second term,” Luna said in a press release.
