A new developer update for Marvel Rivals has players even more excited for the second half of season one, which kicks off at the end of this week.
Along with showing off the first official looks at The Thing and Human Torch, the video posted on socials today also teased upcoming changes for hero balancing and a look at the new Central Park map for the Convergence mode. But the most welcome news may have to do with Chrono Tokens.

In season zero, players quickly finished their battle passes, but were able to continue to earn Chrono Tokens while playing, leaving a massive pile of the currency left over at season’s end. NetEase Games says it has heard the complaints, and a big change is coming in next week’s midseason update.
“We’ve heard your feedback about excess Chrono Tokens and how frustrating it can be when they don’t carry over,” Rivals creative director Guangguang said. “So, we’re excited to announce a brand new redemption system. Now, you can convert those excess Chrono Tokens into Units.”
For players who purchase the Luxury Battle Pass and unlock all of its rewards, the extra Chrono Tokens can now be converted into Units “at a specific ratio” after the update goes live. How generous that ratio is remains to be seen, but it’s definitely better than just having the Chrono Tokens rot in your inventory and then disappear.
Units are the blue currency in Marvel Rivals used to purchase costumes and other cosmetics from the store, so the Chrono Tokens can essentially be converted into skins if you’ve saved up enough.
I definitely had a ton of Chrono Tokens left over in season zero. Every day, new challenges pop up with the purple currency as a reward, so they are relatively easy to earn. There’s also the seasonal challenges that reward them, too, along with limited-time ones related to events, so there’s no shortage of the currency at season’s end if you play the game consistently.
NetEase has set a really solid precedent for acting quickly on player feedback thus far, such as removing an unfortunate change coming to ranked reset at midseason and showing that it’s willing to renege on unpopular decisions to keep players engaged.
While the ratio for Chrono Tokens to Units will likely be nothing wild, this is another solid addition to Marvel Rivals that players can look forward to when the midseason update goes live with two new heroes and a new map on Feb. 21 at 3am CT.
