The other day, detectives of the Bureau of Economic Security conducted large-scale searches in the offices of the well-known currency exchange network X-Change. Investigative actions took place simultaneously in several large cities of Ukraine – Dnipro, Kamianske and Kharkiv. The reason was systemic violations of financial legislation, in which the company had been suspected for a long time. This is reported by the Fakty publication.
According to a source in law enforcement agencies, questions about the activities of X-Change had arisen before, but the investigation was not started for unknown reasons. Among the possible obstacles, the company is called the presence of influential patrons in the previous management of the BES.
According to the source, this is why the searches are associated with the change of head of the Bureau, who in early August became former NABU detective Oleksandr Tsyvinskyi. In particular, according to law enforcement agencies, upon taking office, the new management began to quietly address problems that had been ignored for years, including internal corruption.
“Such an approach may indicate the BES’s intention to actively combat the shadow sector, cleansing the financial market of dubious players. This may be a signal to other market participants that the times of untouchable business structures are over,” law enforcement agencies believe.
We will remind you that Tsyvinskyi’s candidacy for the position of the head of the BES was recommended following the results of a competition held on June 24, 2025, and his approval was made on August 6.
