Pittsburgh-based utility assistance program Dollar Energy Fund opens for the 2025-26 winter season on Wednesday.
Households can receive grants of up to $500 to offset winter heating costs. Customers are urged to apply early.
Assistance is open to households with an income at or below 200% of the federal poverty line, with gas service turned off or threatened to be turned off, among other qualifications.
Founded in 1983, Dollar Energy Fund uses contributions from the public, as well as utility companies, to provide assistance.
Separately, Peoples Natural Gas customers can also apply for that utility’s customer assistance program. More information is available at 1-800-400-WARM or Peoples-Gas.com/help
