The Dollar Lake Fire burning in Wyoming’s Bridger-Teton National Forest has expanded to 9,891 acres with 0% containment reported. Firefighting resources continue to arrive, and operations are intensifying as crews focus on fireline construction and structure protection.
To enhance coordination, fire operations have been restructured into five divisions, up from the previous two. On the north side, crews and heavy equipment are working to build and strengthen containment lines along the Green River Lakes Road. Meanwhile, dozer line construction is beginning on the southern flank of the fire. Hand crews are scouting the southeastern edge for natural features that could help slow the fire’s spread.
Weather and Fire Behavior Concerns
The situation remains volatile, with incoming storm systems expected to bring gusty outflow winds later today. Although monsoonal moisture is forecast to return Sunday, chances of wetting rain remain minimal, increasing the risk of elevated fire behavior in the coming days.
Closure Order in Effect
To ensure public safety, the Bridger-Teton National Forest has issued a closure order for the fire area. The closure includes land east and south of the Green River, starting from its junction with Union Pass Road (FS600), and extending along Green River Lake’s shoreline to the Bridger Wilderness boundary. From there, it follows the South Fork of Gypsum Creek southwest to State Highway 352, ending where the highway transitions from pavement to dirt. The east side of FS600, north to its junction with Union Pass Road, is also closed.
Fire officials continue to monitor the fire’s progression closely and are urging the public to avoid the area.
