Dolly debuts at Dollar General

GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn.— Global icon Dolly Parton has designed a new collection of tabletop and kitchenware for Dollar General that is based on her rural upbringing in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee.

The line will debut at all of Dollar General’s approximately 20,000 locations in 48 states starting mid-July. There are about 50 items in the collection that range from $1 to $10, with most pieces costing $5 or less, the retailer said in a release. There were not many other details about the collection, other than the pieces is a nod to Parton’s legacy and reflect “key moments from her early life.”

A few pictures of the collection show deep ruffled-edge pie plates with a red exterior and a red plaid band around the inside edge; glass storage jars and a measuring cup decorated with butterflies, and a wooden rolling pin with an etched butterfly on it. There are also ceramic figural pieces and mugs with sayings on them, like “The most powerful thing in the world is love.”

“Our shared humble beginnings make this a special program for Dollar General. We are thrilled to bring this exclusive collection, curated by one of the most iconic stars in country music, to DG customers,” said Emily Taylor, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer.

Parton signed with licensing agency IMG in May 2019 to create a lifestyle brand that would range from fashion and jewelry to home goods and accessories, according to a statement from IMG at the time. In March of this year, Parton partnered with Lodge, Lifetime Brands and Mainstream International on cast iron skillets; tabletop, home décor and kitchen tools; and table linens and other kitchen textiles. Those products will launch online and at Cracker Barrel, Walmart.com and Lodge’s e-commerce site and factory stores next March, according to a report in License Global.
