Family Dollar and Uber are teaming up months after Dollar Tree announced that it’s selling the bargain store to focus on its growth.

The announcement comes months after Dollar Tree confirmed it would be selling Family Dollar to private equity firms Brigade Capital Management and Macellum Capital Management, and over a year after the parent company announced it would permanently close the doors of 600 Family Dollar stores in the U.S.

Dollar Tree estimated about $804 million in net proceeds from the sale of Family Dollar, which it expects to close by June 2025. Dollar Tree acquired Family Dollar in 2015 for about $9 billion.

“By partnering with Uber Eats, it’s now even easier to access essentials from the comfort of home,” Bonita Price, Family Dollar’s chief merchandising officer, said in a statement. “Expanded access at an incredible value goes a long way in helping our customers save time and do more, especially in underserved communities.”

The company said customers can now order from 5,000 different Family Dollar locations on Uber Eats across the U.S. As of Feb. 1, Dollar Tree operated 16,500 stores across 48 U.S. states and five Canadian provinces, including stores under the Dollar Tree, Family Dollar and Dollar Tree Canada brands.

Uber Eats offering 40% off orders from Family Dollar

To celebrate the partnership between Family Dollar and Uber, customers can receive 40% off Family Dollar orders costing $30 or more, and save up to $25 on their orders.

To take advantage of the promotion, users can use the promotion code FAMILY40 when checking out with the app, Uber said.

The coupon code expires on July 4 at 11:59 p.m. PT and can’t be combined with other promotions.

Uber One members will also be privy to exclusive benefits, including $0 delivery fees on eligible orders.

“As millions of people look to stretch their wallets without sacrificing convenience, we’re proud to welcome Family Dollar to the Uber Eats platform,” Hashim Amin, Uber’s head of grocery and retail in North America, said in a statement. “This partnership expands affordable access to everyday items while giving people even more ways to shop smart, save time, and stay on budget.”
