Fire breaks out inside Dollar General in Long Beach


LONG BEACH, Miss. (WLOX) – Long Beach Fire Chief Griff Skellie confirmed a blaze broke out at a Dollar General on Beatline Road around 5:15 a.m. on Monday.

Police conducting routine checks were the first to notice the fire and called in first responders.

According to Chief Skellie, the blaze was contained in a storage area which was heavily damaged.

The rest of the store had smoke and water damage.

The Dollar General was closed at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.

Crews with the Long Beach and Pass Christian Fire Departments, Harrison County Fire Rescue and the Combat Readiness Training Center responded.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
