Jimmy Kimmel took swings at Donald Trump on Monday after the president skipped the return of the remains of four Army soldiers to the U.S., choosing instead to play golf in Florida and speak at a $1 million-a-person fundraising dinner for his super PAC at Mar-a-Lago over the weekend.
“Who is paying a million dollars for more of this? If you want to throw away a million dollars, just put it in the stock market. You don’t have to give it to him,” said Kimmel on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” joking that — in Trump’s defense — it was “fajita night.”
Trump — amid economic turmoil caused by his tariffs — selected Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to attend the “dignified transfer” at Dover Air Force Base on Friday after the four soldiers died in a training exercise in Lithuania.
The president also hit the links at his Trump National Golf Club in Jupiter, Florida, where he took part in the Senior Club Championship and later bragged about his skills in the tournament on Air Force One.
“It’s good to win. You heard I won? Did you hear I won? Just to back it up, there ― I won. I like to win,” said Trump, who noted that he has a “very low handicap.”
The late-night host didn’t seem surprised, declaring, “Of course he won. Anyone who beats him gets deported to El Salvador.”
