A man was fatally shot on Wednesday at a Family Dollar store in Augusta.
The shooting took place at about 3:30 p.m. at the store at 825 Laney Walker Blvd., according to a news release from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim was taken by a private vehicle to a hospital, where the sheriff’s office said he later succumbed to his injuries.
The sheriff’s office noted that the case is being investigated as a homicide and no further information was immediately available. Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen said he is withholding the victim’s identification until his next of kin is notified.
