Second arrest in beating death outside Dollar General in Augusta


Richmond County authorities have charged a second person in the brutal beating death of a local father outside a Dollar General.

Creston Curry, 37, was captured Friday on Sherman Street in Augusta on warrants for murder and armed robbery in the June 15 death of 28-year-old Elias Delk. The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office arrested Curry with the assistance of the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force.

On Thursday, Tamiko Shynese Bolton, 36, was charged with murder in the Delk death.

The victim’s body was found in the early morning hours of June 15 outside the Dollar General on Martin Luther King Jr., authorities said. Delk had been beaten by a group of people with their fists, feet and a stick, leaving him with hematomas to the scalp, broken ribs and a punctured left lung, a warrant says.

The injuries caused his death, authorities said.

The victim was identified online as the loving father of a 5-year-old boy.

Curry is a convicted felon with a long list of arrests and convictions, including drug dealing, leaving the scene of an accident, burglary, domestic violence, violation of a family violence order, weapon possession, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and multiple obstruction cases. He has served three stints in prison with his latest release in March 2022.
