VERMILLION, S.D. (Dakota News Now) -The USD Coyotes had an impressive win streak snapped Sunday at home in that 94-91 loss to South Dakota State when they trailed by 15 with 3 minutes left and had a chance to tie late.
But a win Wednesday night in Vermillion over Summit League leading St. Thomas would make for an incredible finish in league play and create a potential 3-way tie for the league lead.
Eric Peterson’s team did their part, holding the potent Tommies offense to 80 points after losing 119-104 in St. Paul. And the Coyotes got 30 points from Chase Forte in the 85-80 win over St. Thomas.
USD improves to 17-11 overall and 8-5 in Summit League play. ST and Omaha are tied atop with 3 losses each while SDSU and NDSU each have 4 after the Bison won in Brookings 77-68.
