EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE/Gray News) – Police in Indiana say a woman is in jail after attempting to hit a man with her car.
According to the Evansville Police Department, officers were called to the Sunoco gas station on Washington Avenue in reference to an assault.
Dispatch said a woman, later identified as Melissa Noble, attempted to run over a man with her vehicle.

Officers said the man told them that the situation started at Dollar Depot. He said he saw Noble shoplifting a phone charger and a charging block from the store while he was working.
The man told police he tried to confront Noble at the gas station and began to take pictures of her license plate.
According to an arrest report, the dollar store worker stated that Noble then got into her vehicle and aggressively backed her car up with him still behind it.
He said he jumped out of the way into the grass to get out of the way, but Noble then put the car in drive and aggressively swerved toward him, as if trying to hit him with the car.
The woman left the scene on Washington Avenue, but officers said they were able to arrest her after conducting a felony traffic stop.
Evansville police said video footage from the Sunoco gas station confirmed the man’s statements.
Noble’s charges include attempted battery with a deadly weapon and shoplifting.
