The Stock Market Is Selling Off. Here’s What Investors Should Do

Stocks fell sharply this week after President Donald Trump announced sweeping tariffs on U.S. trading partners late Wednesday. On Thursday, April 3, the three main indexes finished the day with losses ranging between 4% and 6% in an immediate reaction to the news.

Indeed, U.S. stocks lost roughly $3.1 trillion in market cap – the biggest one-day decline since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020.
