Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the gained 0.49% to hit a new 3-months high.
The best performers of the session on the were Spirax-Sarco Engineering PLC (LON:), which rose 3.91% or 290.00 points to trade at 7,700.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Whitbread PLC (LON:) added 3.71% or 105.00 points to end at 2,937.00 and Bunzl PLC (LON:) was up 2.72% or 94.00 points to 3,556.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Londonmetric Property Plc (LON:), which fell 3.45% or 7.10 points to trade at 198.90 at the close. Segro Plc (LON:) declined 1.92% or 16.80 points to end at 860.20 and Unite Group PLC (LON:) was down 1.87% or 18.00 points to 945.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 990 to 773 and 713 ended unchanged.
Shares in Bunzl PLC (LON:) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.72% or 94.00 to 3,556.00.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.54% or 13.75 to $2,551.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.83% or 1.36 to hit $75.88 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.37% or 1.06 to trade at $78.64 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.09% to 1.32, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.26% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 101.27.
