June 4, 2025 (London, UK) — WineFi, the multi award-winning wine investment fintech which offers investors a data-driven approach to investing in fine wine, has appointed Matthew Small as Head of Investment, strengthening the company’s investment expertise as it continues to scale its team following its funding round and recent board appointment of drinks industry veteran Shilen Patel.

Small brings extensive experience combining traditional asset management with fine wine investing expertise, having served as Senior Portfolio Manager at Cru Wine and Portfolio Manager at Cult & Boutique Wine Management, with earlier experience as Cash Equities Sales Trader at Danske Bank.
“I first met Matt over a year ago and his background was a perfect fit for what we are building at WineFi,” said Callum Woodcock, CEO. “He has continually impressed me with both his high integrity and commitment to plugging the gaps which have prevented wine becoming a more widely used asset class.”
Small will work closely with Woodcock on the commercial side of the business, serving as first point of contact for prospective investors while collaborating with WineFi’s data team and investment committee on portfolio construction.
“From the outset, it was clear that WineFi was taking a genuinely professional approach to fine wine investment – combining quantitative data, qualitative insight, and technology, all with a clear focus on maximising returns,” said Small. “That level of rigour is rare in the wine world. I was also struck by Callum’s transparency and strong commitment to overhauling the status quo, which made joining the team an easy decision.”
