Sen. Moran Secures Investments for New Facilities, Training Programs at Fort Riley

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) – a member of the Senate Committee on Appropriations – helped secure $116.3 million for planning and construction of new facilities and training programs at Fort Riley as part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2024.

“Building and maintaining a strong and ready military requires a foundation of thriving bases where our troops can train, work and build their lives,” said Sen. Moran. “Fort Riley is a symbol of national security, commitment and strength, playing a pivotal role in safeguarding our nation and fostering readiness in our armed forces. New investments for Fort Riley include:

  1. $105 million for the construction of the Aircraft Maintenance Hangar at Fort Riley
  2. $8.7 million for the construction of an infantry platoon battle course
  3. $1.6 million for planning and designing a new air traffic control tower at Fort Riley
  4. $1.1 million for planning and designing improvements for the Bob Dole Railyard

Moran said that investing in Fort Riley makes certain our troops are mission-ready and helps attract other men and women to pursue careers in the military. These investments to Kansas will attract new opportunities to Fort Riley and help our military communities continue to thrive.”

This legislation was passed by the Senate and U.S. House of Representatives and now goes to the President to be signed into law.
