After Eid (March 31) Market Holiday, a list of other trading holidays in 2025—See list


Share Market Holidays: Stock exchanges BSE and NSE will remain shut on Monday, March 31, for the Eid Id-ul-Fitr (Ramzan Id) market holiday. Trading will resume the next day, on Tuesday, April 1. After Eid, Dalal Street will observe 11 additional market holidays during weekdays in the rest of the year, with Mahavir Jayanti (April 10), Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti (April 14) and Good Friday (April 18) in April, and eight other holidays between May and December.

A Special Trading Session on Diwali (It’s Not A Full-Day Holiday That Day) | Learn All About Muhurat Trading Session

Both stock exchanges conduct a special, one-hour-long trading session to mark the occasion of Diwali. This special session is to enable market participants to execute customary trades on the day the country celebrates Diwali.

In Hindu tradition, Diwali celebrations are characterised by Laxmi Pujan. Multitudes of market participants consider it auspicious to make bullish trades during this special occasion to attract wealth and prosperity for the rest of the year.

The Muhurat trading session also marks the beginning of a new year in the Vikrami Samvat calendar, the lunar calendar used to determine the dates and timings of Hindu festivals.

This year, the Muhurat trading session on Tuesday, October 21.

Typically, BSE and NSE notify the timings of Muhurat a few days before Diwali.
