Nasdaq futures outperform after tech tariff pause; Nikkei up over 2%


US Stock Market Live: Futures on Wall Street are looking to start the new trading week on a positive note after the latest round of tariff exemptions for the time being. The Dow futures are up 130 points, while those on the S&P 500 and Nasdaq are up 40 and 220 points respectively. US President Donald Trump exempted smartphones, computers and other devices and components like semiconductors from reciprocal tariffs on Friday. However, commerce secretary Howard Lutnick later clarified that these exemptions are not permanent, adding to further uncertainty.

US Stock Market Live: Futures on Wall Street are looking to start the new trading week on a positive note after the latest round of tariff exemptions for the time being. The Dow futures are up 130 points, while those on the S&P 500 and Nasdaq are up 40 and 220 points respectively. US President Donald Trump exempted smartphones, computers and other devices and components like semiconductors from reciprocal tariffs on Friday. Trump later said on Truth Social that they are still subject to the existing 20% Fentanyl tariffs, but just moving to another bracket. Asian markets have also opened higher with those in Japan and South Korea gaining up to 2% each. Crude prices are slightly higher, gold is seeing some profit booking, while the US 10-year yield is still at 4.47%, having jumped to 4.55% once last Friday.
