Five leading Thai organisations have joined forces to launch the
country’s first carbon trading platform, specifically designed for
enterprises to trade carbon in medium and small batches.

This platform, currently being rolled out for individual travellers,
is expected to go to trial among MICE entrepreneurs at the end of the
year. This will enable sustainable events to offset carbon emissions
while benefiting local communities.

The five organisations involved in this initiative include:

  1. Thai Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade of Thailand
  2. The owner of the “Carbon Neutrality 4 All” project
  3. The Central Group – which also serves as the funder of the platform
  4. The Ministry of Interior – which brings carbon credit for trade on the platform
  5. Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) and Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT)

This project is part of the alliance’s joint effort to drive Thailand
towards net-zero carbon targets, through the carbon credit trading of
small-and-medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), including MICE, tourism and
service sectors in the country.

The platform leverages the CERO application, which integrates with a
venue’s energy-control system and connects with the CERO app on
individual mobile phones for data collection. This data is then used to
calculate the venue’s carbon footprint.

By offsetting their carbon footprint through this platform, event
organisers contribute to the revenue of local communities engaged in
household waste management projects. They also accumulate points that
can be redeemed for discounts at participating retail stores.

Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya, president of TCEB, shared that TCEB
will promote the use of this platform among Thai MICE operators,
encouraging the industry to reduce its environmental impact and generate
positive socio-economic impacts for local communities.
