Union Budget 2025: Is stock market closed on February 1? Here’s what you need to know


Is the Stock Market Closed on Budget Day? As Budget 2025 approaches, all eyes will be on the government’s decisions to balance growth, welfare, and stability. Amid this, many market participants may be wondering whether the stock market will be open on the Union Budget 2025 presentation day. The exchanges have clarified that both the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) and the BSE will have full trading sessions on Saturday, February 1, 2025.

Is the Stock Market Closed on Union Budget Day 2025?

According to the BSE website (bseindia.com), trading in the equity and equity derivatives segments, as well as in the Securities Lending and Borrowing (SLB) segments, will proceed as usual on February 1, 2025, starting at 9:15 am following a 15-minute pre-market session.

The NSE also confirmed that it will conduct a live trading session on the Union Budget presentation day. “On account of the presentation of the Union Budget, Exchange shall be conducting live trading session on February 01, 2025,” said NSE in a circular.

The NSE also noted that there will be no “T0” session scheduled for trading on February 1, 2025, due to a settlement holiday.

Will Commodity Derivatives Be Available on February 1?

The Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will remain open on February 1, 2025, and continue to operate as usual.
