INDIANAPOLIS — The Giants’ chances of trading up to get their quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft just got better.
During his NFL Combine press conference on Tuesday, New Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi — who holds the first pick — was asked how important it was to stay in range for a “generational prospect” in April’s draft. His answer made it clear that he didn’t want to move down very far.

“That’s part of the strategy that has to be put together,” said Borgonzi, who has said he wouldn’t pass up on a “generational prospect,” despite his team’s apparent QB need. “Just like you have a free agency strategy, you have to have a draft strategy too. We’ll get together as a group and think about that, but you certainly don’t want to pass up on one of those players. So there’s a strategy to it.”
So, yeah, if the Titans move down, they’re more likely to hand the pick to the Giants, who pick third, vs. other QB-needy teams like the Raiders (No. 6) or Jets (No. 7).
This is obviously good news for Giants GM Joe Schoen, who is desperate for a new QB after a terrible 3-14 season last year. The Giants controlled their destiny for the No. 1 pick until a late-December win vs. the Colts plunged them behind Tennessee and Cleveland (who also need new QBs).
The fourth-year GM was asked about the possibility of trading up (or down) on Tuesday.
“We’ve got a lot of work to do on that,” said Schoen. “This is a great opportunity for us in Indy to get around some of the prospects… We have an idea of three to five players, six players, whatever it may be and move-back scenarios and we’ll look at moving up if that’s a possibility.”
