It might have taken Cristiano Ronaldo nearly a decade to pop the question, but he tried to make it worth the wait.
The Portuguese soccer pro proposed to long-time partner Georgina Rodríguez with an incredible diamond ring that experts believe could be worth around $5 million.

The Argentine-Spanish model, influencer, and reality star shared a photo of the gigantic rock in an Instagram post on Monday. “Yes, I do,” she wrote in Spanish. “In this and in all my lives.” The post has received more than 15 million likes so far, with a mix of criticism and celebration in the comments section. (Ronaldo, the most popular person on Instagram with 662 million followers, has not yet publicly commented about the engagement.)
The breathtaking trilogy ring has an oval diamond of approximately 35 carats at the center, with oval stones of roughly one carat on either side, Tobias Kormind, managing director of European jeweler 77 Diamonds, tells Robb Report. The center rock alone is estimated to be worth seven figures.
“A natural diamond of this size and quality would be expected to command in the region of £4 million or $5 million,” Kormind explains. “It brings to mind Elizabeth Taylor’s breathtaking and even larger stone, a 69.42-carat diamond gifted to her by Richard Burton in 1969, which made history when it became the first jewel to sell for over $1 million at auction.”
The diamonds are most likely set in platinum, pushing the price tag even higher still. (Platinum is typically more expensive than gold.) Not that Ronaldo would be worried about the cost. The star forward joined Al-Nassr in December 2022 for a reported annual salary of $238 million.
Ronaldo has no problem splashing cash, either: His big-ticket purchases range from a Gulfstream G650 jet to a multimillion-dollar Dubai mansion. Ronaldo also has a proclivity for bling. The 40-year-old invested in billion-dollar watch marketplace Chrono24 in 2023 and owns some truly incredible timepieces, including multiple seven-figure Jacob & Co. models, the most expensive Rolex ever produced, and a bespoke Girard-Perregaux. It makes sense, then, that he would spend a few mil to put a very nice ring on it.
Ronaldo and Rodríguez met at a Gucci boutique in Madrid in 2016. She was working at the store, and he was playing for Real Madrid. The couple has been together for nine years, and they have five children.
If he spent $5 million on the ring, just imagine what the wedding will be like.
