Lori Ann Zeitler, owner of Sassy Chics New & Rustic Trading Post, 46305 Telegraph Road in Amherst, said the shop has found its niche: to provide unique accessories, clothing and gifts for classy chicks.
In November, Sassy Chics New & Rustic Trading Post will celebrate 11 years in business.
Zeitler explained that her favorite part of owning a boutique is the interaction that she has with her customers, along with the daily inventory, which ensures that no two days are the same.
The biggest obstacle that Zeitler said she has is getting people to know where Sassy Chics is located, yet shoppers come from out of state during the holidays.
Sassy Chics has monthly events such as “Sippin’ n Shoppin” Ladies Night.
During this event, Zeitler said the shop is open extended hours where customers can sip on wine and shop for better deals because there are some specials.
Zeitler wanted to have a sister store that would be open full time, seven days a week.
Zeitler also is the owner of The Tiki Boutique Gift Shop, which is located inside the J.F. Walleye’s Restaurant, 1810 Fox on Middle Bass Island, and has been in business for 16 years, selling Island fashions, jewelry and souvenirs on a seasonal basis.
Zeitler said the name Sassy Chics just came up in her head one day.
“The name just came to me,” she said. “I wanted something sassy for the chicks.
“We are an eclectic store and we do have items for the home, pets, jewelry, a men’s area and 90 percent of our items are American-made. We are the number one store in Ohio for the Lake Girl clothing line.
“We have nautical and country themed clothing and everything in between. Our clothing lines are exclusive: no one else in the state of Ohio carries them, plus we come up with our own designs as well.”
Sassy Chics New & Rustic Trading Post is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays.
