If there’s one thing that the offseason showed for the Boston Celtics, and even over the past few years now, it’s that Brad Stevens is never content with his roster. If Stevens believes there’s an opportunity for him to improve, especially with the CBA and everything involved, he’s often going to take it.

Whether fans get upset about that or not is one thing, but Stevens keeps showing that his biggest priority is giving the Celtics a real chance to win at a high level over the next few years, not just this season.
As an unfortunate result, the Celtics have at times had to move on from guys the fan base obviously loves. There’s a scenario in which that could happen once again, with the latest report suggesting that a guy like Sam Hauser could be available for the right price.
“Boston Celtics. Sam Hauser. (Remaining contract: three years, $35 million.) Boston is against the luxury tax line, and that’s the reason the Celtics did not trade out Hauser in a deal to use their $27 million traded player exception. They would be open to moving Hauser still, but probably won’t get a player more valuable than him at is contract number, so it’s a longshot,” Sean Deveney wrote.
Hauser fits exactly what the Celtics want on both ends of the floor, especially offensively. His ability to knock down shots at a high level is something head coach Joe Mazzulla loves.

It would be interesting to trade a guy like that, but as Deveney touched on, it’s important to recognize that the Celtics probably won’t get a player of his caliber in return. That doesn’t mean it’s impossible, but for what he brings to the organization, it’s probably better to keep him on the roster.
