The U.S. Mint unveiled the Semiquincentennial Enduring Liberty Half Dollar this week, releasing the limited-edition coin in honor of the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
The Mint presented 2,983 half-dollar coins to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum on Friday, one for each person killed in the Sept. 11 attacks and the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. The coins feature the date “9-11-01” encircled by the words “ALWAYS REMEMBER.”
